Every year, our Youth Ministry takes an epic Mission Trip! This year, we are traveling to Atlanta, GA! Every trip is different but we all come together in Christ to serve. 

When is it? Mission Trip 2020 is scheduled for June 20, 2020 - June 27, 2020. 

Where: Atlanta, GA. 

Who can go: Any Asbury Youth member ( current 7th grader - 2020 graduates) who is actively involved in Asbury Youth Ministries. You can attend Wednesday Night Way, Weekly Bible Study, Youth Sunday School, be a part of Turning Point Youth Band, Alpha Omega Youth Choir, Servant Leader Council, or participate in one of our special events during the year. Each youth registrant is required to also work a shift during our March fundraiser, Envelop our Youth. Signups for the fundraiser will be at Wednesday Night Way, Sunday School, and in the Youth office. You can also call or email the youth office to sign up for a fundraiser slot.

Registration closes on March 31. Late registrations will be accepted if spots are available with an extra $50 late registration fee.  See the Payment Info and Registration tab for more information. 

How much does it cost? The total cost of the trip is $350. Registration is $25, which is a deposit towards the cost of the trip and is due by March 31. Go to the Payment Info and Registration tab to register or make a payment. The cost will include everything (meals, too) but spending money. This is actually only half of the actual cost per person for the trip. We raise money to make this cheaper per person with our Envelop Our Youth Fundraiser in March. 

What happens on this trip? We typically take around 60 teens and 18 adults on these trips. We travel in 15 passenger vans riding 8 teens and 2 adults per vehicle and have an extra van with no seats which is used for cargo. We ride in similar age groups on the way up and on the way back. Once we are there, we work in "Family Groups" which are mixed ages and genders (8 teens and two adults). The type of work varies and we will know what type of work each team will have at the mission meetings before the trip. In the past, we have painted, built wheelchair ramps, put up siding, replaced flooring, cleaned/organized homes, worked day camps/vacation bible schools for neighborhood children and more. All of the details about the trip, including departure/arrival times, trip policies, a packing list, trip paperwork, a detailed trip schedule, and more will be given out at the meetings before the trip. On the last Friday of the trip, we typically have a "fun day" where we go out as a group to do something fun together. We've done things like professional baseball games, amusement parks, museums, aquariums, zoos, white water rafting, and many others. Details about the fun day will also be given out at the meetings.

Can I bring my phone/PSP/switch? We are committed to an "unplugged" trip. Don't bring anything that connects to the internet. Adults will have cellphones and you can borrow one to call home if needed. We will not allow youth cellphones or devices that access the internet on the trip.

Here is the payment schedule:

  • by March 31 - Initial deposit of $25 per person due with online registration. If there is room, registration after March 31 will cost an additional $50 per person. 
  • by April 30 - Half of total cost due (not including the $25 deposit). Non-refundable after April 30.
  • by May 30 - Final Payment Due. Non- refundable after May 30.
