Lent - There Will Be Joy
As winter gives way to spring, we will explore how the spark of the coming light and the seeds of new life offer hope for the joy that will come. During this Season of Lent, we will discover together how God helps us find meaning in hard circumstances and leads us into new life-giving opportunities and possibilities.
Weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
there will be joy: lenten meditations
This booklet of readings and scriptures is designed to be used for the 6 weeks of Lent, either as a personal devotional or for small group discussion. May this resource bring you renewal, encouragement and joyful connection with others. We also have the meditations in a weekly blog for you to enjoy.
Lenten Mission Project
As we look toward the possibilities of new life, renewal, and transformation this Lent, we are expanding our food offering for United Christian Outreach. Every Sunday in the Lenten Season (February 21-March 28), we will be collecting non-perishable food items. Please fill your blue bags with: Jelly, Cooking Oil, Corn, Canned Vegetables, Instant Grits and Oatmeal. We are so grateful to partner with UCO to continue to share food with community members in need.
asbury prayer booklet
Prayer helps us through uncertainty, worry, and doubt, while also helping us to celebrate joy, purpose, and faith. Prayer is a journey and mystery, something we never quite master, but when we practice it, it always brings us closer to God.
This booklet is a collection of prayers written by Asbury staff and members. We hope it will be a blessing and resource for you as you journey with God.
Then Sings my Soul: Favorite hymns by Lee & jan cooke
We invite you to join us on Sunday, March 21st at 6:00pm for “Then Sings My Soul,” a concert of favorite hymns presented by Dr. Lee Cooke, baritone, and Jan Cooke, pianist. In a mix of both vocal and piano solos, you’ll hear such favorites as “How Great Thou Art,” “His Eye is on the Sparrow” and many more. The concert will be streamed live on our website on our Sanctuary Live page and on Facebook: Asbury Lafayette. We hope you’ll join us for this evening of heart-warming music.
