We offer a variety of programs so families may know the stories of faith, grow in their relationship with God, and have a fun and safe experience with a loving church family.
Here's how we are keeping our kids safe during the Delta Variant of COVID-19
We are closely monitoring information about the Delta variant of COVID-19, and we are taking as many precautions as possible. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. The following precautions are currently in place in our children’s building.
- Masks are required for adults and children at all times.
- We socially distance children during most activities.
- We do not share materials. Each child has their own bag of materials to use for activities.
- Play areas are sanitized after each use.
- Our nursery staff follows safety guidelines given to us by a local pediatrician.
We offer a variety of programs on Sunday mornings for children of all ages.
Our nursery is available for children 6 weeks old - Kindergarten.
- 8:30 a.m. worship
- 9:45 a.m. worship
- 11:00 a.m. worship
We have play areas for our Pre-K crew and Kindergarten - 6th graders. Both play spaces are open from 9:25 - 9:45 a.m.
Celebrating wonder & worship
At 9:45 a.m. we begin our Sunday school program. Kindergarten - 6th graders go to our assembly room for activities that introduce the lesson, opportunities for kids to lead the group in a variety of worship elements, and a celebration of birthdays.
After assembly, we will move into small group classes for a deeper look at the Bible story and some connection activities.
- Pre-K Class 2 - 4 year olds
- Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Class
- 3rd - 4th Grade Class
- 5th - 6th Grade Class
Our Sunday school program ends at 10:45 a.m. Children can be picked up in the designated Kids' Corner play spaces. Children who have not been picked up by 10:55 a.m. will be brought to the nursery.
We are adding a new element to our Well-Versed Kids program. We will still work on our monthly memory verses each Sunday, but we will also add a story retell element. Kids can retell one of the stories that we have covered during the month. They should also be able to explain why that story is important and what God wants us to learn or know from that story. Kids can earn prizes as they memorize and recite verses. This program empowers our kids with scripture they can use to navigate the world around them In a Christian way.
Children in 3rd– 6th grade are invited to serve God and their church by joining the Auld Acolyte Guild and becoming an acolyte for the 11:00 a.m. worship services.
The purpose of worship is to provide an atmosphere in which people can meet God. As an acolyte, you are part of the worship service. You bring the Light of Christ into worship and take the Light of Christ before the people into the world. Several times throughout the year we will have parties and outreach projects. We will serve together and also play together.
Sign-up to Acolyte.
Our current 6th graders are invited to join us once a month for Confirmation class. We will have activities, games, discussions, guest speakers, and lessons about what we believe as Methodists. These confirmation sessions prepare our 6th graders to become members and leaders in the Asbury community.
swag- students with amazing grace
If you have a 3rd - 6th grader who enjoys playing games with kids their age, then they won't want to miss this program! Our SWAG crew has an awesome time every week! We start with a short devotional, and transition to fun games and activities. We will also incorporate some service projects into our progam this year.
We meet Wednesday evenings on the second floor of the Children's Building, and we follow the Lafayette Parish school calendar for our program schedule and holidays. Drop off starts at 5:45 p.m. Pick up time is 6:45 p.m.
Kids' Choir is a program that focuses on the development of children's voices while inspiring a life-long love of music and worship. In addition to exploring the gift of music, children will also play games and do fun activities. Kids' Choir takes place every Sunday during the school year at 3:00 p.m. in the Children's Building. For more information, visit our Kids' Choir page or register here.
